The Sansom Pharmacy Fund
From
protecting the bones of young cancer patients receiving chemotherapy to
preventing medication-misuse in senior citizens, the work carried out by
the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences contributes to an enormous
range of important health objectives.
Named after eminent pharmacist, researcher and educator Professor Lloyd Sansom OA, the Sansom Pharmacy Fund offers donors a chance to support vital medical research being undertaken in South Australia.
The research supported by the Fund also ensures that the pharmacy profession continues to play a role in ensuring Australians gain better health outcomes from medication use.
The Sansom Pharmacy Fund Travel Award and the Sansom Pharmacy Fund Research Scholarship are two Fund initiatives developed to enable our best and brightest research students to continue their work.
Where do donations go?
Unlike some other medical funds, 100% of donations to the Sansom
Pharmacy Fund go directly towards supporting the aims of the fund not
administration or advertising.
Examples of current research that your donation may help include:
- Using folinic acid supplements to prevent bone damage in children undergoing chemotherapy
- Working with indigenous communities to develop pharmaceuticals from native plants
- Improving the health of our war veterans through better communication and best-practice pharmacy
- Developing an accurate test for autism spectrum disorders
What can I do?
There are many ways that you or your organisation can contribute to the
Sansom Pharmacy Fund, including one-off or regular donations, bequests, or
even new scholarship initiatives.
For more information, download a donation form from Giving to UniSA website, or contact us.
I support the Sansom Pharmacy Fund because its a way to give
something back to a profession that has nurtured and sustained me for more
than three decades.
