This page  contains information on the current nomenclature of the UDP glucuronosyltransferase family of enzymes.

UGT genes are named according to the Human Gene Nomenclature Guidelines as recommended in the paper:

The UDP glycosyltransferase gene superfamily:recommended nomenclature update based on evolutionary divergence. Mackenzie et al., Pharmacogenetics (1997) 7, 255-269

You can view the abstract by clicking here

It is strongly recommended that the sequences (in single letter amino acid code) of newly discovered genes are submitted to Peter Mackenzie (Peter.Mackenzie@flinders.edu.au) for naming. The gene will be named after consultation with other members of the Nomenclature Committee.
