The University recognises the importance of data quality and has initiated a project as part of the University-wide enterprise data warehouse (edw) project.
As part of raising Data Quality awareness the University is holding a series of Data Quality Learning Forums.
Logging Data quality issues Users are now able to log and track Data Quality issues
Training
Training is an integral element of data quality management. Users need to
understand the value and relevance of the data they enter and to know the
correct business processes to follow.
For more information about training for the various corporate systems - see
This project is pivotal to the success of the edw. Data will be integrated once its quality and integrity are assured.
The purpose of the project is to raise awareness of the value of data quality within the University and to provide a mechanism for ongoing monitoring and improvement of data quality within the core corporate systems.
This will be achieved by:
- reviewing existing data quality processes within the primary corporate systems (e.g. Medici, Finance and HR) - see Project documentation
- developing an agreed University-wide data quality framework, assigning roles and responsibilities - see Framework
- within the Framework, assisting stewards evaluate and formalise data quality processes within their systems - see System owners, Data stewards and experts
- within the Framework developing a generic data quality improvement approach
- enabling users to easily log and track a Data Quality issue
