Middle schooling
Middle Schooling education moved to Mawson Lakes in 2005. The aim is to develop links with schools in northern Adelaide in relation to program content, delivery and practicum placements; and to increase school retention rates by working collaboratively with northern Adelaide schools to further develop and promote appropriate methodology and curriculum in the middle years.
A range of areas for collaboration between UniSA and DECS moved to the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) entitled 'Northern Adelaide: A Zone of Middle-Years Schooling Innovation'. The areas for collaboration are:
-
Curriculum support and pedagogical development
-
Educator development
-
Evaluation
-
Postgraduate degrees
-
Practicum
-
Research
The development of a formal relationship:
-
better coordinates existing programs in northern Adelaide and provides a framework for the development of new ones
-
provides opportunities for northern Adelaide schools to influence the philosophies, understandings and practice of future teachers
-
provides for shared learning among schools, between schools and UniSA
The (ARC) Australian Research Linkage Grant 'Redesigning Pedagogies in the North' aimed to build curriculum and pedagogical practice that engage young people's lifeworlds and the concerns of their communities.
