OUA and UniSA logos

Open Universities Australia (OUA) was formed by a consortium of universities and offers tertiary education by distance mode.

The University of South Australia (UniSA) currently offers around 60 different units through Open Universities Australia. UniSA is currently one of the largest providers through OUA in terms of the number of students registering in its units.

OUA Units

The majority of the units offered by UniSA through OUA form part of the following three degree programs.

UniSA also offers a postgraduate program through OUA

In addition, students may undertake individual units in a range of other areas, including child development, economics, health, Italian, management, and religion studies.

Admission Process

Programs and units offered by UniSA through OUA are based on open access enrolment.  As such, there are not entry requirements for undergraduate programs, except the Bachelor of Nursing, which has an annual admission process.  This approach is designed to provide a pathway to tertiary education for a diverse student  base both in Australia and overseas.  Please refer to the Project Management page for details of post graduate entry requirements for this program.

The Bachelor of Nursing has an annual admission process. The postgraduate programs also have commencement requirements. All other programs and units offered by UniSA through OUA are based on open access enrolment, with no entry requirements. This approach is designed to provide a pathway to tertiary education for a diverse student base both in Australia and overseas. In so doing, an important goal of these offerings is to promote access and equity.

Unit Delivery

Units are offered in off-campus mode using a combination of print materials and online delivery technologies. This approach to learning is designed to offer flexibility and to promote student-centred learning. Academic support is provided by staff based in particular Schools. Administrative support for OUA students is provided by the Student Advisers, Campus Central Whyalla.
