OMDOSHEAA
Ombuds and Deans of Students in Higher Education Australasia Association
This association is intended for people working within the Higher Education sector who have the role of being the final point of reference for resolving grievances within the University and who are normally titled 'Ombud'; or 'Dean of Students'.
Aims
The aims of OMDOSHEAA the Ombud Dean of Students Higher Education Association Australasia are as follows:
- To facilitate communication and the sharing of professional knowledge amongst Ombudsmans, Ombuds and Deans of Students.
- To initiate and contribute to discussions of Ombudsmans, Ombuds and Deans of Students in national and international forums.
- To liaise with organisations with similar professional aims.
- To facilitate the organisation of a regular national conference, to be held as frequently as appropriate.
Membership
The membership shall be comprised of:
- Any academic staff; administrative staff or student staff representative who holds a recognised position as Ombudsmans, Ombuds or Deans of Students with their institution.
- Members will gain entry through an expression of written interest.
- Membership may be international.
Convenor
There shall be a national convenor: The function of the national convenor shall be to facilitate the aims of the organisation through regular consultation with its members. The national convenor shall oversee:
- the maintaining of the listserv (and the appointment of a membership secretary as necessary
- the registering of members on the listserv
- co-ordinate OMDOSHEAA activities as appropriate
- report to members at the conferences and
- sign correspondence on behalf of OMDOSHEAA
The current convenor is Professor Eilis Magner from The University of New England.
