Signage for OHSW
Introduction
This procedure outlines management of safety and warning sign requirements in each workplace and applies to all mandatory and temporary signs conveying information with a health and safety focus.
Roles and Responsibilities
Line Managers/Supervisors are responsible for:
- implementing this procedure in their area of responsibility
- ensuring appropriate safety signage requirements are implemented
- ensuring staff and health and safety representatives (where applicable) are consulted in relation to signage requirements.
- ensuring the Property Unit and/or Uni-Formed Signs are consulted in relation to the purchase of all signage requirements
Employees are responsible for:
- not placing themselves or others at risk of injury
- assisting Line Managers in the identification, assessment of safety signage requirements
Health and Safety Representatives are responsible for:
- assisting Line Managers in the identification, assessment of safety signage requirements.
Procedure
All workplaces shall determine what permanent or temporary safety signs should be displayed and where they should be placed in consultation with the Property unit and/or uni-formed signs. Surveys should be conducted using Form OHSW 48.
Worksite inspections shall include a check on the adequacy of OHSW signs.
