ChemWatch online: ChemGold II
All UniSA staff and students have access to the web-based version of ChemWatch called ChemGold II.
The ChemGold II database holds detailed risk management information on thousands of chemical products such as solvents, paints, glues, thinners, cutting oils/fluids, cleaning chemicals and photographic chemicals.
ChemWatch is an essential resource for effective implementation of the UniSA policy and procedure for Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods Management and associated forms.
Access to ChemWatch helps UniSA to meet legal obligations under South Australian legislation:
- Dangerous Substances Act and Regulations
- OHSW Act and Regulations, particularly Division 1.3 of the OHSW Regulations (General principles) and Division 4.1 (General hazardous substances)
- Approved Code of Practice for Control of Workplace Hazardous Substances
- Approved Code of Practice for the Labelling of Workplace Substances
(Available through SafeWork SA)
Students accessing ChemGold II should ensure that their safe use of chemicals is under the oversight of a UniSA academic or professional staff member, e.g. their research or course supervisor.
