Workplace Health and Wellness
Health is not merely the absence of disease; it is a vibrant state of wellbeing and enjoyment of life.
The World Health Organisation defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (WHO Constitution 1948).
Be pro active and commit to 'health and wellness' the advantages being slowing down the biological clock, experiencing renewed health and vitality, protecting your body from age related degenerative diseases and just generally feeling good about life.
Some general tips for achieving overall health and wellbeing include:
- be physically active - 30 minutes 5 days a week
- eat a healthy, balanced diet
- quit smoking cigarettes
- get adequate sleep
- minimise alcohol consumption (and achieve at least 1-2 alcohol free days per week)
- take regular breaks at work (walk around, stretch, move away from the computer)
- stay connected to your family / friends and keep up your hobbies (or try a new hobby)
- schedule regular time-out for yourself to just sit, think and relax.

10,000 Steps
10,000 Steps is a 'whole of community' physical activity project which aims
to increase the day-to-day activity of Australians by encouraging the
accumulation of "incidental" physical activity as part of everyday living.
