Change links to new LTU website
Posted: 16 October 2008
The new Learning and Teaching Unit website which replaces the Learning Connection website was published last week. A redirect from the old to the new site is operating however, you will need to change links in your course websites that go to specific learning resources within the new LTU website. Your current resource links will be controlled by the redirect from the old Learning Connection website and go directly to the LTU home page and not the specific resource.
Please contact your campus Online Adviser if you need training support to manage web links.

Course Evaluation Instrument (CEI)
Posted: 18 September 2008
SP5 CEI surveys will be automatically generated earlier than usual to give students greater opportunity to respond.
Note: Due to the large number of courses the automatic generation process occurs over three days. Therefore, the dates below are an indication only. Some surveys will be created, open or close a day or two earlier than specified.
- Week 10 all surveys created by Monday 13 October
- Week 10 and 11 Course Coordinators can edit surveys
- Week 12 all surveys open by Monday 27 October
- Second exam week all surveys close by Friday 28 November.
CEI surveys can be manually created prior to week 10. This will give Course Coordinators the opportunity to change dates through which the CEI is open and add questions. CEI surveys automatically created in week 10 can still be edited prior to opening in week 12 but not after.
Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) surveys are not created automatically, so its a good time to create your SET survey so that it opens on the same day as the CEI survey (verify the open date with the Course Coordinator).
Visit CEI Help and SET Help for instructions or contact your campus Online Adviser to arrange a one-on-one training session.
Lecture audio recordings
Posted: 8 September 2008
Please consider the following points when making audio recordings of lectures:- Turn the recorder on only a few seconds before you begin the lecture.
- Turn the recorder off immediately you finish the lecture.
- Use a lapel microphone rather than inbuilt microphone on the recorder.
- Don't change the file extension when depositing files in the course podcast drop-box.
- Rename your audio files correctly before depositing them in the drop-box.
- Ensure you deposit files in the correct course drop-box.
- Don't deposit original uncompressed files into a course podcast folder. Deposit them in the course drop-box and let the AV team convert them to the correct size and file type. The AV team will also add the required copyright information.
- Use the Audio File Conversion Request form to inform AV staff that you've deposited files in the drop-box. Remember to include your course area and catalogue number (BUSS 1234).
Please view online help instructions or contact your campus Online Adviser if you need assistance with the lecture recording process.
