Deferred Exam or Assessment

What do I do if I can't sit my exam?

If you are unable to attend the final examination, due to unexpected and extenuating circumstances such as medical illness, you can apply for a deferred examination.

An application form must be lodged at Campus Central no later than five working days after the examination date. Please read all of the information on the first page of the form to ensure you understand what you need to do to be eligible for a deferred examination.

Details of when deferred exams will be held can be found on the exams website.

7.4 Deferred assessment - Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual 2008

Applications for deferred assessment must be lodged at Campus Central or UniSA partner administration office, as applicable, on the appropriate form, supporting documentation must be included, as specified in 7.3, and submitted not later than five working days after the scheduled examination date or the final assessment submission deadline.  The student must indicate on the form whether variations have already been granted in the course under Section 3: Moderation and Variation.  Where the unexpected circumstances also impact on the student's ability to complete and submit the form, they may write to the Director: Student and Academic Services requesting the five day time limit be waived.

7.3 Unexpected and exceptional grounds

If a student can provide evidence of unexpected and exceptional grounds impacting on their preparation for, or attendance at, their final assessment and those circumstances prevented them from attending or submitting the final assessment, they are eligible to apply for a deferred assessment.

Please note that no further assessment opportunities are available for students who have been provided with a deferred or special consideration assessment.
