The ceremony for the 2008 prizes and awards recipients was held on Tuesday 21 April 2009 at UniSA City East Campus.  Head of School, Professor Helen McCutcheon, was master of ceremonies.  The representatives of the donors that were able to attend presented to the recipients of the prizes and awards.  This important ceremony  was watched by a number of academics from the School and proud family members.

The ceremony was an opportunity to showcase the talent within our School. Congratulations go to all the prize and award winners and a very big thank you to the donors and their presenters who make this event possible and who give the School the opportunity to acknowledge excellence.

Dr Alison Hutton presents to Lynette Marshall

Australian College of Children and Young People's Nurses (SA) Undergraduate Prize:

This prize is awarded to the student with the highest overall mark in the course NURS 2022 Health of Infants Children and Young People in the Bachelor of Nursing (IBNU).

Winner Mrs Lynette Marshall:

Lynette is in her 3rd year of the IBNU program, studying internally. She was working in administration in the community and church sector.  Lynette has always had an interest in health and science and liked to care for and help others, after some personal life experience she decided to have a career change and has not looked back.  Lynette has always found the staff to be helpful and supportive, but believes that the rewards you receive from your study depends on what effort you put into it.  She is looking forward to some acute care placements this year.

Maxine Norton presents to Rachel Menedue

Leanne Norton Immunisation Excellence Award:

This prize is awarded to a student who has completed the Immunisation Professional Certificate in recognition of excellence both academically and clinically during the course and contribution to the profession.

Winner Ms Rachel Menedue:

Rachel was working in immunisation and her boss wanted her to complete this certificate and is very happy she is the recipient of the award.  Rachel was able to complete her study externally and online.  This was excellent for her as she has a young family and was able to complete her study and assignments when her daughter had her afternoon nap or in the evening when all her children had gone to bed.

Genevieve Brideson presents to Carrie Cooper

The Royal College of Nursing (Australia) High Achiever Award (City East):

This prize is awarded to the highest achieving graduating student from the Bachelor of Nursing program at the City East campus.

Winner Mrs Carrie Cooper:

Carrie was working in medical reception when she decided to commence her nursing studies. As a working and studying mother of two primary school aged children, she attributes her success to being organised, not leaving anything to the last minute and being committed to her goals. Finding like minded students to study with and making the most of time between lectures were key factors in maximising her time. Carrie is currently working at St Andrews Hospital on an oncology/haematology/medical ward and is thoroughly enjoying the continued learning and work environment.
