Professional organisations

The Royal College of Nursing - Promotes the professional nurse to those involved in the health and ageing system, governments, and the community. The website is designed to provide an effective means for nurses to collaborate, and promote excellence within the profession.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) (formerly the ANC) - A peak national nursing body concerned with national standards and processes for the regulation of nursing within Australia. It was established by the Australian nurse regulatory authorities in 1992 as a forum for considering the regulation of nursing in Australia within a national focus. Each of the eight state and territory nurse regulatory authorities is represented on this Council.

The Australian Rural Nurses and Midwives - The Australian Rural Nurses & Midwives (ARNM) aims to promote quality health care through:  excellence in rural nursing and midwifery practice and by supporting nurses and midwives in the development and delivery of health care services in rural Australia.

International Council of Nurses (ICN) - A federation of national nurses’ associations (NNAs), representing nurses in more than 120 countries. Founded in 1899, ICN is the world’s first and widest reaching international organisation for health professionals. Operated by nurses for nurses, ICN works to ensure quality nursing care for all, sound health policies globally, the advancement of nursing knowledge, and the presence worldwide of a respected nursing profession and a competent and satisfied nursing workforce

Japanese Nursing Association (JNA) - Aims to improve the working conditions of public health nurses, midwives, general nurses (RN) and assistant nurses (LPN/EN), to raise ethical standards in nursing and to promote nursing education and research in order to upgrade the standards of nursing care given to the public
