Investigators
FundingDepartment of Health
and Ageing Project OverviewThe aim of the project is to conduct a systematic mixed method study into trial and error as a personal self-care strategy that can inform health professionals and policy makers about how best to support targeted groups of people with chronic conditions to effectively manage their health status. The study will refine the understanding of trial and error as a personal self-care strategy, and has the potential to influence social, health and functional outcomes of people with chronic condition(s), including their health carer usage and in turn heath care costs. Our research hypothesis is: Trial and error as a personal self-care strategy has the potential to influence social, health and functional outcomes for people with chronic conditions including their health care usage and health care costs. Evidence based mentoring for mental health nurse practitioner candidates in South Australia |
Investigators
FundingSA Health Project OverviewWith approximately 50 per cent of people with a mental illness not identified by their health professional as having a psychological problem, there is increasing need for advanced practice mental health professionals working across a range of health settings. This project uses action research techniques to deliver a program that provides clinical leadership development, coaching and academic development to 9 nurse practitioner candidates preparing for authorisation as a nurse practitioner. The program is underpinned by the philosophy of consumer led recovery to build the personal and professional capacity required to meet the needs of people with mental health problems and mental illness.
