Undergraduate
Bachelor of Nursing (Pre registration) IBNU
The pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing is intended to cater for those individuals who wish to pursue a career in nursing in Australia. The program is a prescribed program for students seeking registration with the Nurses Board of South Australia. The program aims to prepare nurses whose decision making skills will demonstrate a sound knowledge of nursing, psychosocial science and bioscience and who are politically astute, reflective and caring practitioners competent to practice in a variety of health care settings. For international students this program is a fee paying degree offered totally onshore at the City East campus of the University of South Australia.
For 2006 the fee is $14,250 AUD per year (total program approx $43,000 AUD).

Bachelor of Nursing (Post registration) OBNI
The Bachelor of Nursing (Post-Registration) is a degree completion program for registered nurses who already hold a diploma or equivalent nursing qualification.
The program is designed to enhance the knowledge, analysis and decision making skills of registered nurses so that they may collaborate with clients and where relevant, other health professionals to provide optimal levels of health care service delivery. The program prepares graduates to practice within dynamic and complex nursing and healthcare systems as well avail themselves of opportunities for career flexibility and advancement.
To enter this program applicants must provide evidence to demonstrate that they are:
- registered with the relevant Nurse's Registration Authority in their own country or place of residence
- recently practiced as a Registered Nurse
- hold a diploma in nursing or equivalent
- able to meet the University of South Australia policy with respect to English proficiency evidenced by either:
- an IELTS score of 6.0
- TOEFL score of 550 (paper based or computer equivalent score)
- or equivalent in other recognised English proficiency tests
For international students this program is a fee paying degree offered in the fully distance mode or may be undertaken through one of the School's transnational partners. Students selecting this pathway don’t need to travel to Australia (unless choosing the Transnational Practicum option) and can stay and work in their home country while studying in the flexible learning mode. Those students who wish to register and work in Australia will need to undertake the Transnational Practicum option.

For 2006 the fee for students directly enrolled with the University in the distance mode inclusive of the Option Study (NURS 3014) is $A14,250 per 36 units (total program = $A14,250). For those enrolled in the program with a transnational partner and/or undertaking the Transnational Practicum the fee is available on application. Note: students undertaking the Transnational Practicum will need to also meet costs associated with student visa application, the cost of travel to Australia and accommodation and living expenses during the 6 weeks clinical workshop and practicum component. Bachelor of Nursing International (with Honours) - OBNW
The program is designed to enhance the knowledge, analysis and decision making skills of registered nurses so that they may collaborate with clients and other members of the health care team in providing optimal levels of health care. This program not only prepares graduates to practice within dynamic and complex nursing and healthcare systems, but also will assist them to analyse, apply and participate in nursing research that is relevant to their practice setting.
The inclusion of the with Honours component aims to enhance registered nurses research skills and provide the foundation for graduates to move into a research preparation. Program code: OBNW

Postgraduate
Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) - IMNP
This program will prepare nurses to advance and extend their scope of practice. The program develops students' scholarship, clinical and professional expertise and prepares them as nurse practitioners to provide comprehensive primary health care in a variety of practice fields. The concepts of nursing, health and illness are studied with a focus on assessment of health status, identifying health and illness risks and needs, formulating appropriate differential diagnosis based on comprehensive assessment data and establishing mutually acceptable health and treatment plans that maximise outcomes for clients, family and/or the community. Master of Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery - IMNG
To prepare both registered general and mental health nurses and midwives to work in a diversity of fields to develop previously acquired knowledge and skills, by extending their professional expertise.
