Bachelor of Midwifery

Midwives play an important role in health counselling and education for women, their families and the community. They are involved in family planning, pregnancy, labour and birth, and working with women and their families after childbirth. Midwifery is a challenging and fulfilling career with excellent employment opportunities.
The Bachelor of Midwifery requires students to explore and reflect on the ethico-legal, political, social-cultural, economic and technological influence on midwifery practice as well as the legal and ethical responsibilities of midwives. Students will develop an understanding of the relationship between social and biological aspects of health and illness, midwifery therapies, to provide culturally sensitive and holistic care for women and their families.
