Global property markets in the spotlight

UniSA hosts international Property and Real Estate Conference

Want to know more about residential property in Hong Kong? Or are you interested in the implications of subdivision development on native vegetation in SA? Maybe you need to get a handle of how Chinese cities are coping with housing reform and what that means for investment and industry.

These are just a few of the national and international property questions that will be analysed at the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society Conference being hosted by UniSA’s School of International Business at City West Campus from January 21 to 24, 2001.

The conference will attract more than 100 delegates from Australia and around the world bringing together some of the world’s leading researchers and market commentators in property market assessment, law, trusts, valuation, leasing, investment, urban development and education.

Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Alfred Huang, will officially open the conference on Monday (21/01/01) at 9 am at City West Hans Heysen Building (level 5).

Keynote speakers include Yu Shi Ming, from the National University of Singapore; Dr. Jane Murray, National Director of Research Australasia for Jones Lang LaSalle; Professor Mervyn Lewis, UniSA’s National Australia Bank Professor of Banking and Finance; Rod Cornish from the Macquarie Bank and Mark Steinert, Executive Director, Global Head of Real Estate Research, UBS Warburg.

Conference organiser, Rob Kooymans, says it is set to be one of the most important information opportunities for the industry in Australia this year.

"The calibre of the presenters and the research that will be discussed is very high indeed," he said.

"People will have access to a very broad international picture of property and property investment trends from the domestic to the corporate end of the market, factors influencing development across regions and in particular in Asia, and future directions for education in the property field."

He said UniSA was one of the key providers of property education in Australia through its School of International Business, with graduates now working around the world, many happy to return to SA this week to share information and expertise.
