Malaysian graduates celebrate distant studies at a local level

It will be a milestone for 69 Malaysian graduates on Sunday July 15 when they celebrate the completion of their University of South Australia degree studies at an official award ceremony on their own home turf. 

The ceremony to be held at the Hotel Nikko in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday July 15 at 2 pm will honour the achievements of students from all four divisions of the University – Business and Enterprise, Education, Arts and Social Sciences, Health Sciences and IT, Engineering and the Environment.

In all 22 of the graduates have completed a Masters qualification in everything from Business Administration and Communications Management to Manufacturing Management. A further 35 students of the nursing certificate short course run in Malaysia will be awarded their certificates.

The keynote speaker at the awards ceremony will be His Excellency, Peter Varghese Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia. Mr Varghese has held international postings in Vienna, Washington and Tokyo and was the Head of the International Division of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet advising on foreign policy, trade and defence from 1998 to 2000. 

Both the University of South Australia’s Chancellor David Klingberg and Vice Chancellor Professor Denise Bradley will attend the ceremony along with senior managers from the University, Professor Kevin O’Brien Pro Vice Chancellor Business and Enterprise and Professor Ruth Grant Pro Vice Chancellor Health Sciences.

And the following day (July 16) 73 Malaysian graduates will attend a special ceremony as the first graduates of the International Bachelor of Nursing program, which has been run in a partnership between Yayasan Pelajaran Mara (YPM InPace) and the University of South Australia.

The ceremony will be held at the Mara Auditorium, Mara Headquarters at 10 am. Special guest speakers at this graduation ceremony include the Honorary Dato’ Seri Dr Suleiman Mohamed, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Health, UniSA Chancellor David Klingberg, and UniSA Pro Vice Chancellor for the Division of Health Sciences Professor Ruth Grant.

The University of South Australia celebrates its 10th Birthday this year and embraces a growing population of international students from 70 countries around the world.  

 

UniSA graduates in Malaysia Kong will get together to celebrate the 10-year birthday at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, 10 Jalan 1/70D off Jalan Bulit Kiara on Saturday July 14 from 7pm.
