Citations celebrate student learning at UniSA
Outstanding
contributions to student learning at
UniSA have been recognised with the
Australian Learning and Teaching
Council (ALTC) today announcing awards celebrating the efforts of teaching staff.
The ALTC’s Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning
are awarded to university staff who demonstrate sustained dedication to
improving the student learning experience.
Dr
Denise Wood from the School of Communication, International Studies
and Languages has been recognised for engaging undergraduate students
through service learning and research activities that promote social and
ethical action.
School of Management senior lecturer Mr
Peter Balan won attention for his innovation in approaches that
develop students’ ability to relate classroom teaching to industry and
community application.
Mr
David Blaiklock from the School of Art, Architecture and Design was
honoured for excellence in the approach to Illustration Design teaching
which supports, motivates and engages student learning through the
recognition of individual priorities and professional focus.
Enhancing the overall experience for first year mathematics students won
Dr
Malgorzata Korolkiewicz from the School of Mathematics and
Statistics her Citation.
Associate Professor
Rosie Le Cornu from the School of Education was honoured for her
work in professional experience in teacher education.
Dr
Sharon Russo and the Early Childhood Education Transnational
Teaching Team were recognised for a sustained team approach that meets
the challenges of teaching Early Childhood Education in a transnational
context through empathetic approaches supporting students as
individuals.
Dr
Jackie O’Flaherty from the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences
was acknowledged for innovative learning initiatives that engage Nursing
and Midwifery undergraduates and which significantly contribute to a
supportive learning environment and positive learning experience.
UniSA Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President: Academic, Professor
Joanne Wright, congratulated the staff members on their
success.
“This is a great acknowledgement of UniSA’s commitment to quality
teaching,” Professor Wright said.
“ALTC Citations are prestigious awards and during the past four years
UniSA has done very well.”
A formal ceremony for Adelaide winners will be held at the State Library
of SA on July 29.
