UniSA women elected to SA Honour Roll
Three
UniSA staff members have been
acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to South Australia in
this year’s
South Australian Women’s Honour Roll.
Professor Hilary Winchester, Carol Sutherland, and Elizabeth Ho are all featured in the 2009 Honour Roll.
The Honour Roll celebrates women who have made a positive contribution to the SA community.
UniSA’s Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President: Strategy and Planning, Professor Hilary Winchester, was recognised for her commitment to social justice, increasing leadership opportunities for women and improving the quality of and access to post-school education. Prof Winchester provided leadership of the Northern Community Summit, developing strategies to reduce inequalities for young people in the northern suburbs.
Carol Sutherland, Division Manager, Division of Business, was acknowledged for her significant professional contribution to leadership in administrative services in tertiary education in South Australia, her ongoing role as a member of Catherine House Trust, helping to house homeless women in Adelaide, and her membership of the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
Elizabeth Ho, Director of the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, was acknowledged for her commitment to promoting public learning through programming events that provide information, research, ideas and solutions to global, social, economic and cultural questions.
UniSA Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Høj, expressed his congratulations to the recipients.
“Each of these women has made a wonderful contribution to the University and the greater South Australian community, across the fields of education, equity and social justice,” he said.
“On behalf of the University, I congratulate them and wish them continued success.”
