More than 100 good reasons to learn at UniSA
The
passion, enthusiasm and dedication of UniSA’s best teachers were
applauded by their colleagues at today’s
Celebration of Teaching Awards 2008 at the Sebel Playford.
The more than 100 members of staff from across the University’s four
divisions were today recognised for teaching excellence by the
Australian Learning and
Teaching Council and the
University.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic,
Professor Peter Lee said the awards acknowledged a commitment to
excellence in teaching.
“UniSA is known for its practical and collaborative focus, producing
graduates who are job-ready,” Prof Lee said.
“While all staff strive to provide rich and engaging learning
experiences for our students, today’s celebration honours those who have
excelled in providing great learning experiences.
“I know fellow staff and students will join me in congratulating them.”
Prof Lee highlighted the achievements of
Susan Gilbert
Hunt, Program Director for Occupational Therapy in the School of
Health Science, who took out a prestigious Australian Learning and
Teaching Council (ALTC) Award for Excellence for her highly
successful work-integrated learning curriculum.
Ten other staff received ALTC Citations for Outstanding Contributions
to Student Learning, including criminologist
Prof Rick Sarre who also received a UniSA Award for Teaching
Excellence.
Assoc Prof Julie Mills from the
School of Natural and
Built Environments received the other UniSA Award for Teaching
Excellence, while the UniSA Enhancing Learning Awards -
recognising teaching and learning support activities and services - went
to the First Years Experience and Mawson International
Transitions project teams.
There were also two teams among the 14 UniSA Citations for
Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning for significant
contribution to student learning over a sustained period of time.
And the high level teaching performance of 54 staff was recognised with
UniSA 2008 Quality Teaching Awards.
