UniSA in the pink
UniSA has exchanged its trademark reflex blue for a bright shade of
pink this week joining with other universities and research centres
around Australia to bring public attention to the vital role of research
in increasing our understanding of breast cancer.
The breast cancer awareness event – Global Illumination – will see a splash of pink on buildings around the world from international landmarks such the Torre di Pisa to our own Sydney Opera House.
UniSA Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Høj said he was delighted to take part in this international campaign that draws public attention to the vital role research plays in developing prevention strategies, diagnosis, treatments and cures for devastating diseases such as breast cancer.
“This is one scenario where money matters - strong investment in the research undertaken at universities and institutions will help diminish the impact of this terrible disease,” Professor Høj said.
Over the next few nights UniSA’s Hawke Building, Hetzel Building and Murray House will be illuminated pink.
