UniSA’s Singapore graduates celebrate their academic success

UniSA graduates more than 270 Singapore students in JulyMore than 270 graduates will celebrate the completion of their degree studies at a special University of South Australia (UniSA) awards ceremony in Singapore this Thursday July 19 at 7 pm, at the Raffles City Convention Centre.

Among the group, 11 students will be awarded their PhDs and two will receive their Doctor of Business Administration.

The ceremony will be attended for the first time by UniSA’s new Vice Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj who says he is looking forward to meeting and talking to the new graduates.

“I feel privileged to be leading an institution that has developed strong educational partnerships across the region - partnerships that continue to make a difference to the lives of individuals and our nations,” Professor Høj said.

“Educational engagement is one of the most valuable paths to understanding, collaboration and development.”

At the same time the July 19 event will be the last awards ceremony in Singapore for retiring UniSA Chancellor David Klingberg AM after almost 10 years with the University.

“In that time one of my greatest pleasures has been to attend these ceremonies in Singapore and other cities across the region and to see the growth and pride education brings to the lives of our students,” Chancellor Klingberg said.

“I estimate I have shaken the hands of almost 10,000 students as they crossed the stage in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia since I was made Chancellor. I have seen, on each and every face, what and important educational milestone it is to graduate and it has been a great honour to be part of that.”

Key speaker at the UniSA Awards ceremony is UniSA Pro Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Peter Lee.

UniSA is one of the leading Australian education providers to Singapore offering programs in South Australia but also in Singapore through educational partnerships with APMI Kaplan. More than 2000 students from Singapore study with UniSA every year.
