Thinking on Two Wheels:
Exercise for the mind
As the countdown to the seventh Jacobs Creek Tour Down Under begins in earnest, the University of South Australia (UniSA) will be continuing its involvement with the 728 km cycling event, to be held from January 18 -23, 2005.
UniSA will maintain its sponsorship of hometown favourites Team UniSA and for the first time present a special forum bringing leading academics and cycling specialists together to discuss the latest in cycling-related research under the banner of Thinking on Two Wheels.
This innovative one day seminar will be held on Monday January 17, the day before the start of the 2005 Jacob’s Creek Tour Down Under.
The emphasis of the seminar presentations will be to promote cycling as a healthy, fun activity that can directly encourage a sustainable transport system and sustainable lifestyle choices and is aimed at academics, cyclists, athletes, teachers, students and professionals working in sport, recreation, tourism or transport.
Convened by Dr Stuart Clement from UniSA’s Transport Systems Centre at the School of Natural and Built Environments, the day will feature a diverse and stimulating array of presentations from both academic researchers and organisation representatives.
Presenters include:
