UniSA delivers the know-how on doing business in China

With Australia on the brink of a free trade deal with China, it’s not surprising South Australian businesses are taking a strong interest in this rapidly growing region. But doing business in an unfamiliar marketplace can be tricky, particularly if those marketplaces are relatively new.

Professor Alfred Huang, former Adelaide Lord Mayor and now Adjunct Professor with UniSA’s International Graduate School of Business, will present a seminar on doing business with China as part of UniSA’s International Business Week 2005.

The seminar will be held at the Rockford Hotel, 164 Hindley St, August 17 2005 at 1:30pm.

“A lot of businesses in South Australia specifically know very little about the Chinese market,” said Mr Huang.

“This seminar is designed to start people thinking of the Chinese market or, of they already are thinking of it, how best to start there.”

A long-time advocate for international business outreach in SA, Mr Huang will cover subjects including the background to China’s stunning economic growth, and how local businesses can take advantage of this rapidly emerging business opportunity.

"China will soon become our biggest trading partner, and it’s predicted that in five years time it will be the third largest economy in the world,” he said.

“Doing business with China will become increasingly important for businesses in Australia. For South Australian businesses looking for more international trade, the opportunities are there.”

Mr Huang will be available for interview at the conclusion of the seminar, and a complimentary afternoon tea is provided.
