Bachelor of Sustainable Environments (Biodiversity and Park Management)
What will I study?

In First Year, students take foundation courses in natural and social sciences. These are followed by courses in environmental planning and management, community consultation, environmental management systems, environmental policy and environmental law.
Students may then follow one of two specialist areas:
-
Biodiversity and Land Management, which focuses on natural resource management including topics in wildlife ecology, conservation biology, ecosystem monitoring, restoration, LandCare, fire ecology and arid land ecology and management
-
Park Management and Ecotourism, which addresses human interactions with the natural environment through conservation and tourism, and includes courses in environmental education and interpretation, park and wilderness planning, visitor services and hiking trails, marketing, tourism and outdoor recreation.
There is overlap between specialist areas and students can customise their degrees towards particular vocations. Further flexibility is offered through a choice of electives that can be taken in the second and third years.
A one-year, multidisciplinary degree in Sustainable Environments (Honours), is available for students with outstanding academic results.
Professional work experience undertaken during the degree ensures
students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in
the workplace and at the same time develop their professional
connections. This award shares a common first year with the other
three specialisations in Sustainable Environments.
Bursaries are available for
regional students. Contact
Sue Jenkin on 8302 3110 for more information.
