2010 Postgraduate Research Colloquium: Book of Abstracts
Prof Chris Daniels thanks Philip Roetman and Shuaifei Zhou for
organising and running another highly successful PhD colloquium at Mawson
Lakes. Also a big well done to all the PhD students who presented. The
standard of presentation continues to rise, and the presentations varied
from first class to really outstanding –congress quality. It is hoped that
all who presented gained a lot out of it. Thanks also to the academic and
research staff who took time out from their busy schedules to attend. The
students really benefited for your advice and questions.

2010 Postgraduate Research Poster Presentation
The School of NBE welcomed 2010 research students with a
Postgraduate Poster Presentation on Thursday, 8 April at City East
campus.
A fantastic turnout of staff and students enjoyed a number of informative
research activities including a 60 second presentation from each student
followed by questions which was lead by Professor Chris Daniels,
NBE's Head of Research. The afternoon was closed with a presentation by
Associate Professor Joanne Cys, UniSA Acting Dean of Graduate Studies.
The impressive pool of 24 students, whilst all to be commended, produced four special mentions. Congratulations to Gusri Yaldi and Jintawadee Suksri for the most outstanding poster, and to Cathryn Hamilton and Reazul Ahsan for receiving high merit.

2009 Postgraduate Research Colloquium: Book of Abstracts
The School of NBE held its 2009 Postgraduate Research Colloquium on the 12th and 13th of November 2009 at UniSA's City East Campus. The event was opened and closed by Head of School, Professor Patrick James.
Over the two days, 28 PhD and Masters (by research) students presented on a wide variety of research topics which stimulated discussion and questions from the audience. Thank you to all staff, students and industry guests who attended. Congratulations to all participants for the high standard of the presentations. In particular, congratulations to Philip Roetman, Sheryn Pitman and Tim Johnson for their outstanding presentations.

2009 Postgraduate Research Poster Presentation
The School of NBE welcomed 2009 research students with a
Postgraduate Poster Presentation on Thursday, 9 April at Mawson Lakes
campus.
An encouraging turnout of staff and students enjoyed a number of informative
research activities including a "6 questions in 60 seconds" session and
interviews of all students who presented posters by Professor Chris Daniels,
NBE's Head of Research. The afternoon was closed with a presentation by
Professor Nanthi Bolan, UniSA Dean of Graduate Studies.
The impressive pool of 18 students, whilst all to be commended, produced five special mentions and one overall winner. Congratulations to Mary Anne Binnie for the most outstanding presentation, as well as Behnoosh Bazr Afkan, Tim Johnson, Susi Susiliwati, Philip Roetman and Sue Irvine for receiving high merit.
The six winning posters were entered into the Divisional Postgraduate Poster Competition.

2008 Postgraduate Research Colloquium
The Inaugural NBE Postgraduate Research Colloquium 'Sustain 08' was held over two days on the 11 - 12 November at the Mawson Lakes campus.
Thirty Six of approximately 50 full time PhD and Professional Doctorate students each made presentations on their current research directions. Academic staff judged all presentations and highlighted the students with special commendations for their exceptional performances including David Bray, Morteza (Moe) Ghasabeh, Cathryn Hamilton, Tim Johnson, Gareth Lewis, Baden Myers, Jaruwit Prabnasak, Annette Scanlon and Helen Waudby.
After very close scrutiny, the collective staff awarded best presentation to Philip Roetman, with Behnoosh Bazr Afkan and Paul Corcoran also receiving honourable mentions.
The event was opened by Associate Professor John Boland and Professor Chris Daniels delivered a dinner speech entitled 'Everything I learnt about being a researcher I got from the movies'.
