I don't have an Honours degree, but I have worked in this field. Can I apply?
If
I successfully complete the Graduate Certificate, can I then proceed to
the Graduate Diploma or the Masters?
Yes - If you obtain an average pass of 55% in the courses of the
Graduate Certificate, you may apply for status in either the Graduate
Diploma or the Masters degree.
If I don't complete the Masters due to other
commitments, or fail in the research project component, can I be
awarded the Graduate Certificate or the Graduate Diploma?
Yes - if you have satisfactorily met the requirements of either of
those two awards.
Are the programs available on a
part-time basis?
Yes - but the courses are offered during normal semester time, Le.,
between the hours of 9am - 5pm, during Semesters 1 and 2. Please note
that not all courses will be offered each semester.
How much class
time would I have to allow for each course?
The contact time required is usually three hours per week for each course,
normally in one block, e.g., 9am-12 noon or 2pm - 5pm.
Are the courses
available on a distance education/flexible
learning basis?
No - however, it is planned to offer some courses on this basis in
the future. If you are interested in this method of learning, please
register your interest with the
Program Director and you will be advised when these are available.
I'm not interested in
enrolling in a degree program, I only need a
specific course/s to broaden my knowledge in a specialised area. May I
enrol in an individual course?
Yes - with the approval of the Program Director, you may enrol in a
course on a
non-award fee paying basis. For further information, you should
contact the
Program Director.
Are classes held at each
University campus?
Yes - although the majority are taught at the University of South
Australia Mawson Lakes Campus.
Do I have to
travel to different campuses on any single day?
No - the timetable is arranged so that you only have to travel to
one campus on any single day.
Which University confers my degree if I study at all three
universities?
You receive your degree from the University of South Australia.
May I change the
area of research from my initially
proposed research topic in the Masters, after having completed the
course work component of my studies?
Yes - as long as an appropriate supervisor and topic are available
and approved.
Does the program offer
scholarships or financial
assistance?
No - the Program itself does not offer scholarships or financial
assistance. Australian students may use the
PELS Scheme for these
programs.
Does the program offer
doctorates in Hydrology &
Water Resources?
No - the Program itself does not offer doctorates. However, the
School of Natural and Built Environments offers doctorates in this
