Civil Engineering Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

Membership

  1. Advisory committee membership will consist of a maximum of 10 external members who will be:

The internal members of the committee will be the Head of School, Head of the Civil Engineering Discipline and the Civil Engineering Program Director, or their delegates.

  1. The chair of the committee will be an external member of the committee

  2. The term of members is two years, except that half of the initial members will be appointed for three years to ensure continuity of membership. Retiring members are eligible for reappointment.

Procedures

  1. An advisory committee shall determine its own procedures.

  2. An advisory committee will meet at least twice a year.

  3. Invitations to members will be issued by the Pro Vice Chancellor or may be delegated to the Head of School.

  4. An advisory committee will offer advice, which is consistent with the Statement of Purpose

Statement of Purpose

  1. Provision of advice and input to the Civil Engineering discipline’s academic programs and courses

  2. Provision of advice and input to the Civil Engineering discipline’s quality assurance and improvement processes

  3. Provision of advice and input to the Civil Engineering discipline on its strategic directions in teaching and research activities

  4. Development of a strong partnership between the Civil Engineering discipline, School and its stakeholders to support the Civil Engineering discipline in its teaching and research activities.
