Australia's
first planning education program commenced in February 1949 at the South
Australian School of Mines and Industries in Adelaide. The School later
became the South Australian Institute of Technology, now incorporated
into the University of South Australia.
To commemorate this important anniversary, which also marks the 25th
anniversary of Prof Stephen Hamnett's appointment as Head of the Urban
and Regional Planning program in 1984, UniSA will be holding a number of
exciting events in 2009 with the support of the
Planning Institute of
Australia (PIA).
