The
School would also like to welcome
Dr Barry Cooper, new Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the fields of
geology, sustainability and mineral resource development. Dr Cooper
is also Secretary General of the International Commission for the
History for Geological Sciences (INHIGEO) and recently gave a
well-received lecture on “Uranium: A century of Exploration in South
Australia” to a small Adelaide-based group known as the History of
Science Technology and Ideas Group.
The
world's highest road bridge, the 'Millau Viaduct' on the River Tarn in
Southern France, is 1.5 miles long (2.4km), 343 metes tall (1,125 feet),
weighs 242,000 tonnes and cost £276 million to build. It smashes the
highest bridge record, previously held by the Kochertal Viaduct in
Germany at 185m (607 feet).
