2008 Postgraduate Research Colloquium


The Inaugural NBE Postgraduate Research Colloquium 'Sustain 08' was held over two days on the 11 - 12 November at the Mawson Lakes campus.

Thirty Six of approximately 50 full time PhD and Professional Doctorate students each made presentations on their current research directions. Academic staff judged all presentations and highlighted the students with special commendations for their exceptional performances including David Bray, Morteza (Moe) Ghasabeh, Cathryn Hamilton, Tim Johnson, Gareth Lewis, Baden Myers, Jaruwit Prabnasak, Annette Scanlon and Helen Waudby.

After very close scrutiny, the collective staff awarded best presentation to Philip Roetman, with Behnoosh Bazr Afkan and Paul Corcoran also receiving honourable mentions.

The event was opened by Associate Professor John Boland and Professor Chris Daniels delivered a dinner speech entitled 'Everything I learnt about being a researcher I got from the movies'.
