Core research concentrations

  Cire Research Concentrations

The Mawson Institute (MI) has three core research concentrations:

Surface Engineering: manufacturing technologies for surface modification and thin film coatings
This concentration embraces environment (new material technologies for water treatment), energy (electromaterials) and healthcare (including cell therapies and wound care).

Manufacturingplus: manufacturing technologies for human factors, ergonomics and augmented reality

This concentration includes research around an ageing population (ergonomics and human factors, visualisation and spatial augmented reality).

Minerals and Materials Science Technology: fundamental and applied research in material sciences

Specific applications within this concentration include reaction modelling in environmental systems; materials research using techniques such as molecular and quantum chemical modelling; investigations into energy production and optimization processes; and mining and minerals processes.
