Postgraduate Research in Mathematics and Statistics
Programs
The School of Mathematics and Statistics runs PhD and MSc research degree programs. Graduate students are an integral part of the School, valued for their contributions to research and teaching. The School offers a wide range of research opportunities in mathematics and statistics.
Environment
The School is housed in the OC building at the Mawson Lakes Campus and the Yungondi building at the City West Campus. The office accommodation is comfortable and well-maintained, and all graduate students are guaranteed a desk in a shared office and a networked computer. The School has common rooms for all staff and research students, providing a place for informal interaction and discussion. The School also has an intensive program of research seminars given by both visiting academics and its own staff and postgraduate students.
Funding
The School welcomes students from both Australia and overseas. A number of scholarships are available each year, and travel funds are available to postgraduate students to attend Australian or overseas conferences. More information on how applications are assessed is available here. Research students may also be offered some part-time teaching.
