The
research activities of the School of Mathematics and Statistics are
primarily coordinated by the Centre for
Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CIAM) and the
Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research
Centre (PBRC).
The Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics pursues both fundamental and applied research in a number of diverse areas of mathematics and statistics including
- Applied Analysis and Optimisation
- Financial Mathematics and Risk Management
- Mathematical Modelling
- Stochastic-Deterministic Vinculum
The Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre conducts research in the areas of
- Phenomics and Image Analysis
- Biometrics (Statistics)
- Computational Biology and Biophysical Modelling
Some researchers from the School are also affiliated with the Barbara Hardy Institute. This includes those who are active participants in two Cooperative Research Centres: the Rail CRC and the Auto CRC.
The School is also actively engaged in consultancy work in areas including environmental modelling, scheduling and statistics.
