Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Optimisation)
SATAC Code: 434661
UniSA Program Code:
LBMA
Program Director:
Mr Kevin White
A three year program providing a choice of professional major in either Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Optimisation. The Bachelor of Mathematical Science is tailored for those who wish to pursue their interest in mathematics. It provides fundamental studies in areas of modern applicable mathematics which are well suited to equip students for employment in industry, commerce, government and teaching.
Graduates with sufficiently high grades can take the Honours program in Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LHMS) as a fourth year. More detailed information including courses and requirements is available on the University Program website for LBMA.
LBMA is taught at our Mawson Lakes Campus.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) (Industrial and Applied Mathematics)
UniSA Program Code:
LHMS
Program Director:
Professor Vladimir Gaitsgory
This one year program provides advanced coursework and a major industrial, scientific or commercial project in applied mathematics. The program will prepare students for postgraduate studies and for employment in industrial, scientific or commercial environments, and will enhance their planning and problem-solving capabilities. More detailed information including courses and requirements is available on the University Program website for LHMS. Some suggestions for honours projects can be found here.
Bachelor of Quantitative Finance
SATAC code: 424431
UniSA Program Code:
DBQF
Program Director:
Dr Chris Brien
This three year program is designed to provide sound professional training in Mathematics and Statistics, while at the same time specialising in those areas of financial application providing increasing career opportunities.
Increasing levels of employment areas at present include, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Financial Planning and Financial Modelling, within the Banking, Insurance, Investment and general Finance sectors.
Graduates with sufficiently high grades can take the Honours program in Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LHMS) as a fourth year. More detailed information is available on the University program website for DBQF.
The DBQF is taught at both City West and Mawson Lakes Campuses.
Bachelor of Science
SATAC code: 434201
UniSA Program Code: LBSC
Program Director:
Mr Kevin White
The School of Mathematics and Statistics also offers a three year Bachelor of Science Program. The program aims to produce graduates who have an understanding of the fundamental concepts of the sciences that they have elected to study, while the emphasis on laboratory and fieldwork is designed to give graduates the necessary skills to apply their knowledge.
Detailed information including courses and requirements is available on the University program website for LBSC.
Graduates with sufficiently high grades may be given the opportunity to proceed to the one year Honours program LHSC.
Depending on course choice, the LBSC is taught over several campuses.
Bachelor of Science (Honours)
UniSA Program Code:
LHSC
Program Director:
Mr Kevin White
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) program provides an opportunity for advanced study and introductory research experience in a science discipline. The program is aimed at high achieving students, preparing them for postgraduate research or for employment as professional scientists. .
More information can be found on the LHSC Program website.
NEW Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Ecology and Biodiversity, Medical and Health Physics, Nanotechnology and Biomaterials, Sustainable Energy or Water Science)
SATAC Code: 434731
UniSA Program Code:
LHSH
Program Director:
Mr Kevin White
Science is concerned with the systematic study of the nature and
behaviour of the physical universe by observation, experiment and
measurement. It enables us to model the universe and to make predictions and
informed decisions.
The study of science is always changing and developing. In the modern world
there is concern about the problems associated with dependence on fossil
fuels and the need for a dependable supply of clean water. At the same time
there are exciting research developments in materials and devices at the
nanometre scale that will drive future advances in health, biotechnology,
optoelectronics, and materials science.
This four year degree with Honours is designed for high achieving students
with enthusiasm for scientific studies of fundamental importance to today’s
society. The program will provide students with advanced learning
opportunities in one of the five significant areas of scientific endeavour.
Each of these specialisations is closely matched to the University’s
research profile.
This program will be taught mainly on the Mawson Lakes Campus, with some courses at City East.
More information can be found on the LHSH website.

The Law Double Degree enables students to study the standard academic qualification required for legal practice concurrently with a Mathematical Sciences or Science degree. It will provide a professional level of education for students seeking to pursue a legal career. Study in a complementary discipline will provide students with the background to enable them to operate in a range of working environments.
The duration of the double degree program is 5 years of fulltime study. Law courses will be available at City West, with Mathematical Sciences and Science courses at Mawson Lakes or City East.
More information can be found on the DBLD Program page.
Further information can also be located at the School of Law http://www.unisa.edu.au/law/ or Future Student Enquiries
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education double degree
