Software reliability testing

(Y Wang with P Yip)

In reliability testing procedures, the number of faults in the software is of intense interest. It is an innovation to apply the capture-recapture ideas from wildlife biology to software reliability testing.

In our studies, a new model is obtained by assuming random effects for the failure occurrence rate. The model is a general one, of which the traditional Jelinski-Moranda and Littlewood models are special cases. Also the proposed method is computationally easier for solving the high-dimension estimating equations.
