Email Communication
Excerpt from the Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual:

Communication to students

The University's primary method of communication with students is electronic and includes email (via the University student email account, which can be forwarded to another address) and the student portal MyUniSA. Students (including those students studying through a transnational partner and Open Universities Australia) are expected to check their email and announcements on MyUniSA regularly.

Special provisions will be made for those students who do not have access to electronic communication. Normally, communication with students without access to online facilities will be in writing to the student at their mailing address, in accordance with the University's Guidelines on electronic communications with students.

Students are encouraged to abide by the word limits set for assignments. Assignments which are over or under the word limit by more than 10% may be penalised. Please check you course information booklet for assessment details.

Remarking of Assessment
The following information does not apply to examinations in any course. Please consult the 2009 Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual for information about examinations.    Assessments in School of Management courses will only be remarked if students can demonstrate that the mark given for the assessment piece is unfair or inappropriate. In accordance with University policy, students who believe that their assignment has been unfairly or inappropriately marked, must contact the course coordinator within 5 working days of the return of their assessment. Students must be clear on what grounds they are making their request for a remark and state clearly in a short email how and why the mark given for the piece of assessment is unfair or inappropriate. A statement by the student that they believe they should receive more marks with no supporting evidence or argument will be refused. The course coordinator will, respond as soon as possible to any email requesting a remark ? and within 5 working days as indicated in the 2009 Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual.   If the course coordinator refuses the request for a remark, the student may write to the Associate Head of School of Management citing the same evidence as was provided to the Course Coordinator. The request needs to be sent to the Associate Head of School by e-mail within 5 working days of the student being advised of the course coordinator's decision regarding the original request.   The Associate Head of School will decide, on the basis of the evidence provided, if a remark is justified and notify the student and course coordinator within 5 working days of the student's request. If a remark is approved, it shall be a blind remark by someone other than the original marker, and the second mark will stand without recourse, whether it is higher or lower. No further remarks are permitted. If a remark is not approved by the Associate Head of School, the reasons shall be provided to the student in writing, and the original mark will stand.
