The
Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management program is the only
University program of its kind offered in South Australia. It highlights
the financial and social significance of leisure and sport, and the need
for professional management of such associations. The program will
provide students with the skills, knowledge and qualities to work in a
wide range of areas. These include sport management, event management,
leisure management, recreation planning, outdoor recreation and tourism.
Students
will gain knowledge about individual and group behaviour, the importance
of leisure to Australian society, planning issues in relation to sport
and recreation, the needs of all stakeholders and the management
techniques to assist them, the political process in community
decision-making, and international perspectives. Students will also
undertake two field placements, allowing them to apply their skills and
knowledge in real-life situations.
