What will I study?
Central
to every business degree at UniSA are core courses in management and
business, designed to equip students with a solid foundation in business
essentials and give them the key skills, knowledge and experience to
succeed in subsequent years of the program.
The first year of study has a strong emphasis on general management
knowledge and skills. Courses focus on topics such as management,
economics, marketing, law, accounting, business communication and
negotiation, organisational behaviour, management ethics, and business
information systems.
In developing this understanding, courses aim to strengthen students'
abilities to view an organisation as a whole, to communicate
effectively, to develop 'soft skills' or people skills, to work
professionally with others, and to solve problems through people. By
encouraging innovative problem-solving, an entrepreneurial approach to
managing, and the ability to identify opportunities, this degree seeks
to develop a positive approach towards management in both the private
and public sectors.
Select students have the opportunity to gain real-life experience
working in industry. They will complete an enterprise-based project and
report, which allows them to apply their theory to a practical
situation. This valuable experience is particularly attractive when
seeking employment.
