What is orientation to UniSA for International students?
Orientation to UniSA for International students is about making your transition to the University of South Australia and features activities and information sessions that are designed to introduce you to life in Adelaide and study at UniSA.
Your orientation will also provide an essential introduction to your chosen program of study at UniSA.
During orientation to UniSA you will:
- Find out what services are available to you as a student at UniSA
- Meet other students
- Meet University staff
- Be assisted in your search for long term accommodation
- Be provided with information about getting around Adelaide and UniSA
- Learn some strategies for successful study and living in Adelaide
- Have your questions answered

Welcome Area
The Welcome Area is a great place to meet Welcome Buddies and UniSA staff in a relaxed, informal atmosphere as well as gather information about life at UniSA, enrolment, or find accommodation.
Details of Welcome Area locations for international students commencing in study period 2, 2010 will be available in January 2010.
Program outline
For international postgraduate students commencing in the School of Commerce in study period 7, 2009, you can access a revised copy of your Postgraduate Orientation Program (Study Period 7, 2009) from the Division of Business Orientation for Postgraduate Students website.

Before you study at UniSA there are a number of things you will need to organise. Please download this helpful Pre-departure checklist (PDF 96kb - download Adobe Acrobat) and tick the checkboxes as you go!
Quarantine information
Please refer to the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service website for information on what you are not allowed to bring into Australia.
- For example, if you have items made from wood, plant and animal material, you must declare them upon arrival.
- You are not allowed to bring in fresh food or egg products even in powder form into Australia, including dried or packet food.
Adelaide has access to products from most regions in the world. The food item you may want to bring from home is probably available in Australia.
To ensure that you have a smooth passage through Quarantine upon arrival into Australia please visit the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) website.
