Moodle is an online collaborative environment. In addition to being a highly sophisticated Learning Management System (LMS) it also:
- Provides tools for creating online activities and assignments
- Allows the integration of almost any web-deliverable content
- Is orientated towards creating communities of learners
- Contains detailed tracking and grading to help assessment
Moodle is Open Source software; this means that money which would otherwise be spent on software licenses can be directed to further development and customisation of the Moodle LMS to meet specific UniSA requirements.
Developed in Perth, Australia, Moodle growth has been phenomenal. Moodle
is used in more than 202 countries in over 36,000 registered sites. It
is currently used to deliver over 2 million courses worldwide and it is used by
a number of leading Universities here in Australia and overseas.
