Welcome from the Dean

Professor Paul Fairall
Foundation Dean of Law
Starting a new law school provides the perfect opportunity to modernise our approach to legal education. We have thought carefully about ways of strengthening the knowledge and understanding that law students require for successful legal practice and about the skills that we want our law graduates to have. Developing life-long learning is strongly supported at UniSA and the new Bachelor of Laws program embraces this concept. We have taken into account the challenges of university study and have responded with a flexible and innovative program.
The Bachelor of Laws degree has been approved by the relevant statutory body chaired by the Chief Justice of South Australia, John Doyle, and we are pleased to commence teaching our first intake of students in 2008.
Law graduates are never short of interesting career options, going well beyond traditional legal practice. Students will have the opportunity to undertake double degrees with a variety of discipline areas – the number of combinations is extensive.
This is an exciting opportunity – a law degree designed to educate graduates who can address tomorrow’s challenges. Armed with a law degree the world is your oyster!
