Multi-agent Decision Support system in Avionics
Maintainability and reliability of the Avionics Equipment (AE) are the driving factors in safety and airworthiness of airborne platforms. It is essential to maximise the availability and reduce logistics down times. Most of the test and maintenance data, currently produced, is either paper-based or discarded. It fails to provide useful preventive analysis. The information about system performance is not collated even when it is available. This is a unique problem and requires an innovative solution. This research presents the development of such a solution. The proposed solution is an expert system using intelligent agents. The system monitors and gathers information from all aspects of Integrated Logistics (ILS) environment. The data-mining techniques are used to collect information about changes occurring in its environment. A knowledge-base is created by observing and collating these changes in real time. This concept is innovative because it takes a holistic view of all possible aspects of the ILS [1-4]. We intend to deploy this system in the industry after successful validation and testing. The system will be a part of the existing ILS environment for creating useful forecasts, warning and reports of the AE’s current and future maintainability and reliability.
