Background
Jonas Addai-Mensah is a Chemical Engineer by training and has blended this background with expertise in colloid and surface science. Jonas obtained his BEng(Hons) degree from University of Science and Technology, Ghana, MSc from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel and his PhD from the University of Queensland, Brisbane. During his postgraduate years and since joining the Ian Wark Research Institute at the start of 1993, he has actively pursued research activities in the area of solid-liquid processing and separation, with applications to minerals, material and waste liquor processing and environmental cleaning.

Current Projects
Improving the dewatering behaviour of mineral dispersions through interfacial chemistry and particle interactions (Minerals Industry / AMIRA Project P523A).
Sodium aluminosilicate and diuranate chemistry and crystallization behaviour in support of high level nuclear waste processing and evaporator fouling mitigation. (Westinghouse Savannah River (S. Carolina, USA) Project).
Influence of crystal growth modifiers on gibbsite crystallization from Bayer liquors (Ondeo Nalco Project).

Jonas has authored over 80 refereed journal and conference publications which cover the above research activities. He actively supervises PhD, Masters and Honours degree students who undertake fundamental and applied research using world class facilities and equipment.
