PhD and masters scholarships (Australian)
The following scholarships are available to support Australian-resident
higher degree by research students in the Ian Wark Research Institute.
Ian Wark Research Institute Scholarships
These scholarships, typically 5-10 each year, are available for research degrees undertaken in the
Institute. These are funded by industry, to work on a project of interest to that
industry, or the Australian Research Council. Details on any current

Australian Government Scholarships
Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) are funded by the Commonwealth
Government's Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST). The award
includes a stipend and exemption from the payment of tuition fees in the form
of a Research Training Scheme (RTS) place. These scholarships are available
to Australian and New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents. Closing date for applications is 31 October
2009 for research degree programs commencing in the first three months

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) (APA(I)) are funded by the
Australian Research Council Linkage Program for higher degree by research
students to
work on a specific project awarded to the University by an industry partner.
The award includes a stipend and exemption from the payment of tuition fees in
the form of a Research Training Scheme (RTS) place. Any APA(I) scholarships available at
The Wark will be advertised on this site and in Australian newspapers shortly thereafter.
University Scholarships
University of South Australia Postgraduate Awards (USAPA) are
funded by UniSA and have the same conditions as APAs. Applicants who are not
successful in being awarded an APA are considered for a USAPA. The award
includes a stipend and exemption from the payment of tuition fees.
