School of Computer and Information Science

  1. Around 4.5 months into candidature the student, with supervisor approval, submits a proposal document to the RDC.

  2. The supervisor and RDC organise a Panel, usually to include themselves, the associate supervisor and at least one expert (Director ACRC and HoS invited ex officio) - the whole Panel is generally CIS staff.

  3. The student gives a presentation (about 30 minutes) to the Panel and an audience of staff and students.

  4. Question and answer time for the student MC'ed by the RDC.

  5. Audience dismissed and Panel discusses recommendation.

  6. If the recommendation includes revisions, these are signed off by the supervisor and RDC before the proposal is forwarded to the Research Office.

  7. Successful completion of this procedure is required for the Annual Review to find progress as satisfactory.
