Handbook for postgraduate research students
Welcome to the Division of Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment (ITEE) at the University of South Australia. Over the coming year I plan to visit each of the Schools and Research Centres in our Division. I hope I will have the opportunity to meet you and your supervisor to hear about your research.
This induction handbook has been designed to familiarise you with the facilities available, and also the regulations that apply to you as a postgraduate research student. Please take this opportunity to read through the handbook to ensure that you can make full use of the University’s resources while you are studying here.
Your postgraduate research studies can be an exciting, challenging and immensely rewarding period of your life. Your research will be a team effort between yourself, your supervisor(s) and support staff across the University. We will do our best to provide you with the facilities, support services and a structured development program for your research. We will, however, expect you to report regularly on the progress of this research through your research proposal, annual reviews, seminars, papers and ultimately your thesis.
The information presented in this handbook is predominantly in summary form. Where appropriate, Internet web addresses will direct you to more comprehensive information. If you have any problems or questions, please do the following:
- Read and bookmark
- Division specific information guide (pdf file)
- Refer to the relevant University web pages, perhaps starting with the Research Degrees website
- Ask one of your fellow students
- Ask your Supervisor or Research Degree Coordinator
- Please email any corrections or comments about this handbook to Brenton Hughes, Administrative Officer: Research or myself, Professor Stephen Priest, Dean of Research
I look forward to meeting you soon, meanwhile good luck with your research.
Professor Stephen Priest
Dean of Research
