I did a 12-month undergraduate placement at Holden automotive manufacturing pant, and had a contract as a Technical Writer at Arnotts Biscuits manufacturing facility.
These placements were invaluable in terms of the practical experience and a revived outlook towards my study. My grades increased substantially as a result of this experience due to the fact that I was able to see the application in industry of the topics covered in the classroom.
I also did a semester student exchange at Lancaster University, UK.
