Home group system of support
The Indigenous Student Services utilises a system of support for students known as the Home Group System. The single most important feature of the ISS Home Group System is that each specific staff member is responsible for a group of students who either attend their campus or study courses relevant to their expertise. All students are the responsibility of a specific staff member regardless of their need for assistance or not.
Special entry
A method of special entry is provided by ISS for Indigenous people who haven't the usual pre-requisites to enter a Uni SA Program.
Uni preparation for Indigenous students
The Indigenous Student Services annually conducts Uni Preparation Sessions for new Indigenous students prior to the start of the academic year. The Uni Preparation Sessions recognise that many students have applied to the University through the Special Entry Scheme and may be mature age with a limited school background. These Sessions provide intensive academic and study skill sessions to prepare students for the demands of their new courses. It is also an opportunity for new students to develop support and peer networks, and to familiarise themselves with academic procedures and resources.
